How many hours a week do you normally work?
The best answer would be to say that you are a workaholic and you often work nights and weekends.
What’s the most difficult part of being a (job title)?
redefine “difficult” to be “challenging”. Then identify an area most others in your profession find challenging. Describe what you would do to get the best results.
What was the toughest challenge you’ve ever faced?
Be prepared for this. Relate it to the quality which is important to the job.
Have you consider starting your own business?
In any case, Indicate that any desires about running your own show are part of your past, not your present or future.
What are your goals?
Be ready to discuss your goals for each major area of your life: career, personal development and learning, family, physical (health), community service(keep in mind how the interviewer looks like - whether he is religious or not) and spiritual goals.
Sell me this stapler…(this pencil…this clock…or some other object on interviewer’s desk).
List all its features and benefits. If the interviewer keeps resisting and fighting you, then dont fight him. Take the product and thank him for telling upfront that he doesnt want the product as it saved both persons' time. Ask him if he would like any other of your products and again list the best features and benefits of that product if he does.
“The Salary Question” – How much money do you want ?
Let the interviewer do it first. If he thinks you are highly suitable, then your bargaining power will be stronger. Get him to talk about what he's willing to pay before telling what you want.
Decide beforehand what range you would accept. Research the job market and this position for any relevant salary information.
Never lie about what you currently make but do mention what extra benefits and fringes you get which might add as much as 50% to your current salary.
The Opinion Question” – What do you think about Abortion, Politicians, Singur Protests, Bharat Ratna Candidates, etc.
Sometimes, it may be better just to try to divert the area of topics politely so as to give yourself some time to think or just to avoid getting into an area of risk. Just be optimistic and dont show you that you are unwilling to answer these type of questions.
If you won a million dollar lottery, would you still work?
You should try to be involved in your career in some way. Money alone can bring happiness to you. Its the satisfaction which one gets from good and hard work which is important for me.
The lottery would add some flexibility to my work life. Just dont say something which the employer would think to be unreal.
Tell me something negative you’ve heard about our company
Never be negative and just handle it accordingly.
On a scale of one to ten, rate me as an interviewer.
Never be negative and dont give him a numerical rating. Just praise whatever interview style he has been using with you. If he has been tough say "I think you have been thourough and tough and these qualities are very necessary for selecting good candidates"
